School Information

Mill Valley is a community that is firmly committed to quality education. Parents play a very active role in school through the PTA, KIDDO and volunteering in the classroom. Besides the Mill Valley public schools, a number of fine private schools serve the community.

Mill Valley School District

Five elementary schools and one middle school comprise the Mill Valley School District. The District takes pride in the quality of its well-rounded academic program and its small class sizes. The elementary and middle schools rank academically in the top five percent in the state.

"KIDDO!", our schools foundation, provides funding for art, music, poetry and technology programs in the K-8 classes.

Tamalpais High School

Often compared to a small college campus, Tamalpais High School sits on a beautifully landscaped hillside overlooking Richardson Bay.

Since opening in 1908, Tam High has educated four generations of Southern Marin youth. The students come from the communities of Mill Valley, Sausalito, Marin City, Bolinas and Stinson Beach. The student body reflects the diverse cultural and ethnic makeup of the area.

Tam students consistently score well on Scholastic Aptitude Tests (SAT). The dynamic staff, student body and community celebrate diversity, honor excellence and provide students with the opportunity to question, think and dream.
